ビーチが奇麗で空いているという点、伝統音楽が残され土地の人が今も楽しんでいる点でもギリシアは他の地中海諸国（イタリアやスペイン）を凌ぎます。

しかし何と言ってもその歴史が西洋文明の恩恵に預かっている現代人にとって、圧倒的に深い意味を持っています。というのも西洋の思想や芸術の源は紀元前の古代ギリシアの想像力に遡るからで、ルネッサンスも産業革命もその申し子と言えます。ビーチで泳いだ後、遺跡を目にすれば何故この国で？と言う疑問が湧きます。自分はこの疑問に納得できる答えを探す旅を続けています。
